Are you ready to take a quantum leap in consciousness today, this moment, right now?

Are you ready to step out of that very comfortable but terribly confining box that you have been keeping yourself locked in?

Are you ready to expand your mind, stretch your imagination, increase your excitement, broaden your scope and deepen your expectancy of what is possible for you?

Would you be willing to take a look at what you think you are supposed to be, do, think, and say and stop making yourself into a good or bad girl or boy, man or woman?

You don’t need to justify yourself for anything anymore. There is no one left to account to. Only you are totally responsible for yourself. You are your own authority, your own commander-in-chief, your own sovereignty. The power and dominion is all within you now. It always has been.

Are you willing to let more and more of yourself be known, to yourself, to others, to the world? Are you willing to come out of hiding, give up your secrets, remove your shackles?

Are you willing to finally allow all the old ways of thinking and doing to finally collapse at your feet and walk away from them? Are you finally relieved to give up the frustration at where you are now and have been for so long? Are you ready to investigate, take a look at, wander through your inner garden, and tread lightly on the pathways of your own soul?

Are you tired of turning to others for your own approval, self worth and a feeling of being at home somewhere, anywhere, however momentarily, empty and fleeting that has been? Your only home is deep in your heart and it has been waiting for you, calling for you. It has always been there but you have been afraid and searching elsewhere.

Can you allow yourself to no longer be impacted by the outside? Can you no longer let what other people think of you affect your worth and finally know that it was never about you in the first place?

Are you ready to just show up and begin to play the greatest game you have ever played with no accolades, prizes, laurels except the ones already placed in your heart?

Is it finally time to shine, thrive, prosper, flourish, burst forth, bloom, evolve and set yourself free? What better time, What greater place? What will it take from you?

Desire. Willingness. Bravery. Surrender. Love.

Go for the gold today. The doors are open, the opportunities are ready to present themselves, the world is waiting.

We’re Not In Kansas Anymore

The other day I found myself feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed and weak. I realized that I was letting some people, places and situations in my life have tremendous power over me. I was giving these outside forces power over how I responded to what was said or done and how I chose to feel about all of it. At that moment I began to feel very angry both at those people and situations for their behaviour but mostly at myself for allowing them to take me over, for putting my happiness and sense of peace in their hands and not my own, for bringing me down and keeping me down or so I thought. At that point, I got very, very angry and I got up, literally and said to myself “Enough Already”. I don’t have to do this and I proceeded to just let it all go and put it aside. I didn’t have to analyze any more why they did what they did, judge how wrong and thoughtless it all was, or even how it made me feel. I didn’t have to convince them that my way was the better way or the right way. I didn’t have to waste my precious time and energy doing any of that. I just had to walk away and into something better, something more empowering for me. Which is exactly what I did in that precise moment. As a result I had one of the best days I have had in quite some time and I was able to accomplish more than I had in weeks. Everything just seemed to fall into place for me in miraculous ways.

We have become used to certain patterns of behaviour that have become like habits. Someone pushes button A and we respond by pushing back button B. It has become automatic, boring and tiresome. It is truly no longer serving us. And whether what these people, places or things do is right or wrong, good or bad, it really doesn’t matter, what matters is how they make us feel or how we allow them to make us feel and no one can make us feel bad unless we let them. We are the ones who put ourselves inside the prison of our own making. At any point we can tear down the bars, and set ourselves free.

Our emotions are neither good or bad. It is important, now more than ever before, that we do not deny, suppress or stuff them deep inside. They simply are there to serve us. They are trying to tell us something about ourselves, to shed some light on what needs to be tended to like in a garden. What needs to be acknowledged and cleared out and what needs to be nurtured, watered and loved. Those parts of us that need to be healed or quite simply let go of.

Anger is neither good or bad. It can be an amazing catalyst to propel us out of where we do not want to be. And it can be a great gift. It is the judgement about these things, people and emotions that cause us stress and unhappiness. And at any time, we can choose not to judge and walk away. We need to not care any more what anyone thinks about us, and that can be a very hard thing for many of us to do. I am not saying that we don’t need to deeply care about each other, quite the contrary. However, it has been ingrained in us to care what other people think, especially those close to us, and follow along. Society and the media is totally set up to give us the message to hold ourselves to their standards of value and worth and not our own, to fit in. But what if we are hearing a different voice these days and many, many more of us are not alone in hearing this. Will we choose to listen and even more bravely, answer? Will we allow our mind to convince us of its so called truth or will we open our heart to its deeper inner knowing?

I think that this kind of thing is coming up for many of us these days as things are speeding up on the planet, there is no denying that, and there is no time for analyzing and processing and programming like there used to be several years ago.

We need to just do what feels like the most freeing and loving thing in any moment to move us forward into a new state of being. We need to choose to play in the world from a bigger place, a grander place that we cannot really see yet, but are at least willing to venture forth and follow the beckoning that keeps tugging at our heart strings. It is not comfortable and so we resist and we cling to comfort. It is certainly not familiar, and yet many of us would rather stay in a familiar, unhappy situation than risk what might be, thinking that it may be much more than we could handle. And so we stay stuck and seemingly broken. Some of us keep running back time and time again to all manner of systems and tools that we think will fix us and make us better. Many of these have worked somewhat for us in the past, and we are very reluctant to part with them, but we were never broken in the first place, so there is really nothing left to fix. How can you improve upon perfection, unless you are trying to deny it.

I am not saying that this isn’t scary or confusing or perplexing. I am saying that we can no longer deny that something is afoot, as Dorothy in the movie The Wizard of Oz exclaimed. “I have the feeling that we are not in Kansas any more”, and we need to take a good look at exactly where we find ourselves these days and where we might be going.

This is an extraordinary time on our planet. The world is changing at an accelerated pace and I know now more profoundly that I have ever known before that we are not alone here. That we have available to us more help than we could ever need to move into places we have not yet been to. Doors are opening and walls are coming down and things are not quite as they seem. Adventures await us if we have the courage to go within and feel. We have help and most importantly we have each other.

Time For Truth And Awakening

The usual ways of coping are not working as well as they used to for most of us, and people will soon have no place left to run, no place left to hide.

It is as if a flashlight is being shined on our most vulnerable places and exposing them to the light. Makes one feel naked, confused, vulnerable and anxious.

The pain, sadness and despair that we have so deeply buried is being uncovered. Wounds are opening, hearts are weeping, tragedies abound and scars lay bare.

Beliefs are being questioned, motives examined, old ways of doing things exposed to the light of day and falling short.

Attachments to what we believe to be true are beginning to loosen. Standards of beauty, worth and merit no longer seem to hold up.

Foundations are shaking and institutions are falling away. Only those with integrity, truth and kindness will prevail and ultimately prosper.

The atrocities that were once tolerated and allowed are being discarded and abandoned. What once was considered too good to be true, will be understood as normal.

We are beginning to cease to believe the lies we have told ourselves, but only after we let go of the anger at the brave ones who had the courage to point them out to us in the first place.

We are becoming very weary of playing inside the box and starting to venture outside Into the light. It is the only thing that will save us, cure us and sustain us in the end. The Light. Our Light. Our Truth. A deep inner knowing will prevail and guide each of us. We can’t ignore it much longer. Or pretend that it has not been knocking at our door for quite some time now.

I do not think that the caterpillar had it easy in the process of becoming a butterfly. It is much the same for us now here in this awakening. But what emerged for the caterpillar in the end was certainly worth it. Victory, Beauty, Wings, Truth, Flight. It will be the same for us.

There is nothing for us to fear, but much will surface to make us think that we do. It is part of the process, and some days will feel like a battle that we may or may not win.

I wish I could tell you that it will be easy for you, perhaps it will. I hope it will. I pray that it will.

I can only tell you that it hasn’t been easy for me. That I have wanted to give up more times than I could count, that the pain of it has been almost too much to bear and the anguish beyond anything I would ever have imagined. I am not the only one. More of us are beginning to talk about it, need to talk about it. More of us need to share what is in our hearts and minds and souls as we move to where we are all going anyway. It just makes it easier when we know we are not alone, when we don’t have to hide any more, when we can see ourselves in the person next to us and not envy them for what we think they have that we do not.

So, please join me if you think that may help you as we venture forth to places we have never been before, and experiences we are not even able to comprehend yet in a world that is still beyond our wildest imaginings. Please join me.

This Moment Has Your Name On It

Will YOU find a way today to touch the deeper reality beneath your life? A way to connect with the divine!

It may be through listening intently to a piece of exquisite music, practicing yoga postures, admiring a beautiful work of art or visiting a sacred place where the earth recognizes your step and the ground kisses your feet as you walk.

Perhaps it will be watching your child play or petting your cat or just sitting quietly with no thought.

It may be focusing on a single flower and allowing it to whisper its secrets into your ears and awaken your heart to the rapture that it feels as it unfolds to gaze upon the world for the very first and very last time. Perhaps the answers to your most pressing questions may reveal themselves to you in this mystical place, where the noise stops and the craziness ceases to intrude.

It matters not how you come upon this place, this place of knowing, peace and tranquility. It matters only that you take some time to visit here. Some time away from the busyness of your life to stop the inner chatter, and rest in sacred space where no words need be spoken and no actions taken and the dreamer waits for you to dream your dream.

Will you find a way to visit here today? To be with yourself, alone, unguarded, unrestrained, open to what life wants to show you, vacant, free. Where the only sound is that of your own heart beating and the only voice is that of your own soul calling, calling, calling you. Will you hear it today? Shall you answer? Will you stop and listen to its wisdom, welcome its magic, touch its power, feel its joy, know its love?

Will you walk away from your story today, just for a little while, and let go of the things you have been telling yourself in the book you have written about your life? Will you begin a new chapter, here and now, script a new play, with a bold beginning and a happy ending? What would it take for you to do that today, now, in this moment in eternity? This moment that contains everything and asks for nothing in return.

Life begins and ends in a moment and life can change in a moment. All we have are moments. Will you choose to be whatever it is you want to be or experience in this moment? You are here. This precious moment is yours. It is your gift. It has your name on it. Take it. Make it matter.

Everyone in the room was released of the prison in their own heart

She told the truth
Everyone in the room was set free

She told the truth
Everyone in the room took back their soul

She told the truth
Everyone in the room laughed as if for the very first time, a real laugh, that they had never recognized before

The room disappeared
The pain dissolved
The chains were broken
The people connected

And LIFE began again …

Not perfect, but honest and free with hope and wonder

If You Can Do These Things For Me, You Will Have Served Me Well

Don’t feed me all the cliches today and the sugary sap. Give me honesty. Speak from your heart. That I can take.

Don’t quote me from your latest self-help book and regurgitate the contents. Tell me how you really feel and what your soul is saying.

Don’t fill my head with worn out words and platitudes. Fill my heart with meaning, substance, purpose, value.

Don’t judge me by your standards or their measure. Just hold me and love me and make me feel better.

Don’t tell me of things you’ve only read about.
Speak to me of things you know in your gut, so I can know them too.

Don’t offer me advice. I haven’t asked you for it.
Offer me a hand and a shoulder to cry on, when I need one.

Don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t do.
Show me what is possible, and let me find my way.

Don’t regale me with your conquests and your victories.
Speak to me of heartbreak and of joy, of sadness and of glory.

Don’t deny me my emotions or rob me of my feelings.
Allow me the space to let them surface and move on.

Don’t hide your pain from me. Or your grief and sorrow.
Tell me how it felt and how you made it through.

Don’t try to fix me or change me or make me better.
Show me where I’m already shining and point the light there.

If you can do these things for me, you will have served me well.

Silent Angels

From the emails I have been receiving lately from those of you on my mailing lists and my own observations out there in the world I would have to say that a lot of people are really going through some difficult times right now.

The population is aging and this is impacting those who are growing older, those who are taking care of them, and those who are alone.

The other day I witnessed a lady in our building who had just been dropped off by one of those handicapped vans, and even though she was not in a wheelchair herself, I could see that she had serious mobility issues. She had just returned from visiting her beloved husband and lifelong companion who was now confined to a nursing home. I had seen them out walking together a few years earlier, laughing and holding hands and thoroughly enjoying each others company. As she slowly made her way to the front of the door, she held the key in her hand ready to open the lock. And then at that precise moment she just leaned in toward the building and started to cry. I could see from the look of anguish on her weary face, that she was trying to summon the courage to enter the building, walk up the stairs, and open her apartment door, just to be alone once again for yet another evening without him.

My heart went out to her. I wanted to rush over and hug her but got the feeling to just honour her presence instead and the precious space she was in. I sensed that she was a very private person and just needed to be alone in that moment. Sometimes the moment can carry us through when we don’t have the strength to carry ourselves.

I did hold her in the light in my heart and whispered a quiet prayer that somehow things would get better for her and that she would know that she is deeply loved, even though I am sure she was certainly not feeling that love right then.

I think sometimes if we can simply acknowledge each others pain, without trying to fix things, then that may be the greatest gift we can give to another human being. I don’t mean wallow in the pain or focus on it, but to just acknowledge it with deep compassion, would make a huge difference to so many.

We are human and pain is part of the journey. If we ever allow ourselves to love anyone or anything for that matter, pain is an integral part of the process because some day we may, probably will, lose that person, place or thing to which we have become attached, either physically, mentally or emotionally. Of course, the price of not loving, of not seeking, of not becoming involved, is a much deeper and emptier pain that strips away at our soul and destroys our spirit.

Your spirit will always reach towards the love and your soul will always take the higher road.

And so I would suggest that we answer our soul’s calling and “take the higher road” by becoming “Silent Angels” for each other.

So, as a “Silent Angel”, be on the look out as to where you could shine your light on someone else’s darkness. Be constantly aware to where your wings may take you, whether it be in a busy shopping mall, a lonely sidewalk cafe, a homeless shelter, a park bench, a dinner or party. Be constantly vigil of where you could look beyond the surface to the deeper pain that may be lurking there and attend to it in whatever way and means may lie before you.

Pretend you have been given a mission and are part of the “Silent Angel Invasion” of whatever city you live in or visit and it is your job to keep the home fires burning and heal the hearts and souls of those you encounter along the way.

Sounds daunting? Fear not! You have at your command an arsenal of tools with which to do your work.

A magic wand that you can point and shoot better than any camera will ever do and grant silent wishes to unsuspecting troubled hearts, uplifting them in the twinkling of an eye and restoring peace on earth.

A big, beautiful, heart full of love, with light beams that extend from you for miles and miles ahead washing away any sadness that may appear in the distance and replacing it with joy, wonder, belief in the magic, trust in the knowing, that we are all in this together and we are truly loved.

Dancing, daring, delightful Angel eyes, that dispense laughter, spread kindness, seek miracles, offer compassion, give thanks and beam these out into all the other eyes that meet yours along the way, eliciting an enchanting smile of knowing and surprised look of tender acknowledgement.

And we “Silent Angels” have the ability to recognize each other. A knowing glance, a curious nod, a gentle, sweet and unsuspecting touch. A sacred salute to a comrade in arms and wings and halos.

And so, dear heart, will YOU join me? Will you take your place among us? Will I sense you standing there next to me wherever I may journey?

I think I already have and I know that I will, for I feel you here, reading these words, and I already recognize you.
