Give Up Your Judgements And Set Yourself FREE!Who would you be without your judgements? FREE Perhaps?

Why do we insist for the most part on judging things, situations and people’s actions as good or bad, right or wrong, moral or immoral?

Does judging others make us feel better or more superior in some way? And if so, at what cost?

Judging takes you away from who you really are.  And one judgement leads to another and another and becomes a habit that can be hard to break. Feeling good at another’s expense is never worth it. Judgements also take a toll on our physical body and we wonder why we don’t always feel our best. Is that really worth it? We can never really know what is going on in someone else’s heart or why they do what they do, what may have brought them to act in a certain way. If we did, perhaps we would have more compassion for them and understand more what it is like to walk in their shoes.

As Mother Teresa said:  ”If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”

Perhaps just for today, give up the judgement and find something or someone to love instead.

Its Valentines Day Remember the LoveMy favorite day of the year has always been Valentine’s Day. It didn’t matter if I was alone on that day or not, I still adored it. Valentine’s day for me is a celebration of love, love in its many forms, romantic love between a man and a woman, the never-ending love of family and dear friends, the enduring love between a parent and child, the abiding love between a human and their beloved pet, love of self and love shared with communities or the world.

In our society we seem to need an excuse to tell people how we feel about them, or show them with tokens of our affection. At Christmas, we exchange gifts and take time away from our busy schedules to be with the people who really matter in our lives. On Valentine’s day we are presented with yet another opportunity to open our hearts and share our souls. The marketplace makes it very easy for us to do that, presenting us with a cornucopia of delicacies and finery, from chocolates, to strawberries and whipped cream, to diamonds, singing teddy bear deliveries, and an abundance of greeting cards with just the right sentiment.

It matters not how you choose to serenade the ones you love on this auspicious occasion, what matters is that you do! Whether it be with a store bought treasure or a simple handmade delight, the form is not important, but the sentiment is! Valentine’s day gives you another opportunity to do something that comes naturally for you, as natural as breathing, and that is to BE love and to GIVE love. It is who you are and it is the only thing that really matters in the end.

I leave you with a Valentine Poem and my love…

A Table in a Restaurant on Valentine’s Day

I want to be a table, in a restaurant, on Valentine’s Day!

Think how glorious that would be,
And how many people would spend that special day with me.

What will they talk about? What will they say?
Will there be laughter and people at play?
What are their stories? How far have they come?
What will they tell me, the old and the young?

Will hearts open and tender souls touch?
Will there be magic that moves me so much?
Will there be secrets and sadness as well?
How much will they venture to be and to tell?

Will they remember this day gone before?
And where they were then, and now they want more?

And though they look different, with each changing place,
As the food and the wine, they’re invited to taste.

Each one is trying to do the same thing,
Whether in depth, or a casual fling.

Just for a moment to touch someone’s heart,

And feel loved by another before they do part.

Enjoy and have a Beautiful Valentine’s Day!

I Put Down My Armor Today
Copyright © 1990 by Veronica Hay

I Put Down My Armor Today

I put down my armor today.

Today, for the very first time, I traded in my warrior for a new one.

The one I held close for so many years no longer suited me.

It was too serious, too full of steel, with too many weapons, even a helmet to shield my face.

For all these years, I’ve gone through the world with this armor encased around me, like a turtle’s shell.

And even though it felt heavy, and it weighed me down, I thought I needed it to protect me.

I have a new warrior now,  just as strong though you would not know it.

If you were to look closely,  you might see only the tenderness, the vulnerability, the softness.

Do not be fooled by that! Inside is the strongest I have ever been.

I put down my armor today, yet I am unafraid.

I know now thatI do not need steel to protect me, for I no longer need protecting.

I am safe in the knowledge that the only thing I needed protecting from in the first place was myself.

I’m travelling lighter yet stronger now, I put down my armor today.

We’re Not In Kansas AnymoreThe other day I found myself feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed and weak. I realized that I was letting some people, places and situations in my life have tremendous power over me. I was giving these outside forces power over how I responded to what was said or done and how I chose to feel about all of it. At that moment I began to feel very angry both at those people and situations for their behaviour but mostly at myself for allowing them to take me over, for putting my happiness and sense of peace in their hands and not my own, for bringing me down and keeping me down or so I thought. At that point, I got very, very angry and I got up, literally and said to myself “Enough Already”. I don’t have to do this and I proceeded to just let it all go and put it aside. I didn’t have to analyze any more why they did what they did, judge how wrong and thoughtless it all was, or even how it made me feel. I didn’t have to convince them that my way was the better way or the right way. I didn’t have to waste my precious time and energy doing any of that. I just had to walk away and into something better, something more empowering for me. Which is exactly what I did in that precise moment. As a result I had one of the best days I have had in quite some time and I was able to accomplish more than I had in weeks. Everything just seemed to fall into place for me in miraculous ways.

We have become used to certain patterns of behaviour that have become like habits. Someone pushes button A and we respond by pushing back button B. It has become automatic, boring and tiresome. It is truly no longer serving us. And whether what these people, places or things do is right or wrong, good or bad, it really doesn’t matter, what matters is how they make us feel or how we allow them to make us feel and no one can make us feel bad unless we let them. We are the ones who put ourselves inside the prison of our own making. At any point we can tear down the bars, and set ourselves free.

Our emotions are neither good or bad. It is important, now more than ever before, that we do not deny, suppress or stuff them deep inside. They simply are there to serve us. They are trying to tell us something about ourselves, to shed some light on what needs to be tended to like in a garden. What needs to be acknowledged and cleared out and what needs to be nurtured, watered and loved. Those parts of us that need to be healed or quite simply let go of.

Anger is neither good or bad. It can be an amazing catalyst to propel us out of where we do not want to be. And it can be a great gift. It is the judgement about these things, people and emotions that cause us stress and unhappiness. And at any time, we can choose not to judge and walk away. We need to not care any more what anyone thinks about us, and that can be a very hard thing for many of us to do. I am not saying that we don’t need to deeply care about each other, quite the contrary. However, it has been ingrained in us to care what other people think, especially those close to us, and follow along. Society and the media is totally set up to give us the message to hold ourselves to their standards of value and worth and not our own, to fit in. But what if we are hearing a different voice these days and many, many more of us are not alone in hearing this. Will we choose to listen and even more bravely, answer? Will we allow our mind to convince us of its so called truth or will we open our heart to its deeper inner knowing?

I think that this kind of thing is coming up for many of us these days as things are speeding up on the planet, there is no denying that, and there is no time for analyzing and processing and programming like there used to be several years ago.

We need to just do what feels like the most freeing and loving thing in any moment to move us forward into a new state of being. We need to choose to play in the world  from a bigger place, a grander place that we cannot really see yet, but are at least willing to venture forth and follow the beckoning that keeps tugging at our heart strings. It is not comfortable and so we resist and we cling to comfort. It is certainly not familiar, and yet many of us would rather stay in a familiar, unhappy situation than risk what might be, thinking that it may be much more than we could handle. And so we stay stuck and seemingly broken. Some of us keep running back time and time again to all manner of systems and tools that we think will fix us and make us better. Many of these have worked somewhat for us in the past, and we are very reluctant to part with them, but we were never broken in the first place, so there is really nothing left to fix. How can you improve upon perfection, unless you are trying to deny it.

I am not saying that this isn’t scary or confusing or perplexing. I am saying that we can no longer deny that something is afoot, as Dorothy in the movie The Wizard of Oz exclaimed. “I have the feeling that we are not in Kansas any more”, and we need to take a good look at exactly where we find ourselves these days and where we might be going.

This is an extraordinary time on our planet. The world is changing at an accelerated pace and I know now more profoundly that I have ever known before that we are not alone here. That we have available to us more help than we could ever need to move into places we have not yet been to. Doors are opening and walls are coming down and things are not quite as they seem. Adventures await us if we have the courage to go within and feel. We have help and most importantly we have each other.

I wish you Godspeed on your journey, my dear and precious friends.

The Many Faces of CourageThe Many Faces of Courage

Copyright © by Veronica Hay

“Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
“I will try again tomorrow” ~ Mary-Anne Rademacher

So true, more often than not I believe this is the case.

There are many words for courage. I looked it up in the dictionary and came up with the following:

bravery, fearlessness, nerve, audacity, boldness, grit, gallantry, guts, spunk, moxie, balls, valor, determination.

And then I began to think of how many situations life presents uswith every day where we have the opportunity to respond with everything we’ve got, in a courageous way.

For example.
Choosing to do things our way when the world is telling us to do something different, takes guts.

Telling the truth in spite of the consequences, takes nerve.

Never giving up on your dream, even when things appear to be hopeless, takes determination.

Doing the right thing, taking the high road, when it doesn’t always feel comfortable, takes valor.

Believing in yourself when no one else does, takes balls.

Sharing yourself with the world in an honest, authentic and even vulnerable way, takes spunk.

Walking out on a limb, doing something you’re really afraid to do, with your knees knocking and your hands sweating, takes fearlessness.

Being proud of who you are in spite of the fact that others think you’re different or weird or even crazy, takes audacity.

Offering your gifts to the world, and doing it with everything you’ve got, in every way you know how, takes boldness.

Giving the other person the benefit of the doubt when you know you are right, takes gallantry.

Believing you are gorgeous, brilliant, talented, amazing and acting accordingly, takes moxie.

Choosing to keep your commitment to yourself and do the work you promised you would do every day, takes grit.

Opening your heart again even though you may have been betrayed, let down, even abandoned, takes bravery.

So my dear friends, where in your life today will you be bold, audacious, spunky, balsy, fearless, brave, daring, gallant or determined and what are you waiting for?

Take care and have a courageous day.

Love and blessings, Veronica

Sing The Song You Came Here To Sign“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer…
It sings because it has a song.” – Maya Angelou

Almost all of my life, I have been looking for the answers. The meaning and purpose of life. The truth of it all.

And I can honestly say that even at this point in the game, I have still not found them, although there were many times along the way when I thought that I had.

But as I grew older the landscape and the questions kept changing. I believe they always will.

So, let us take Maya Angelou’s advice. And if you still need to ask yourself a question, let it be this.

What is the melody of your own heart?

Perhaps today would be a good day to stop looking for the answers and just sing the song you came here to sing.

Have a blessed and very peaceful day.

She Told The Truth
Copyright (c) January 23, 2013 by Veronica Hay

She told the truth
Everyone in the room recognized each other

She told the truth
Everyone in the room came out of hiding

She told the truth
Everyone in the room cried

She told the truth
Everyone in the room had been thinking the same thing

She told the truth
Everyone in the room could finally breathe

She told the truth
Everyone in the room was released of the prison in their own heart

She told the truth
Everyone in the room was set free

She told the truth
Everyone in the room took back their soul

She told the truth
Everyone in the room laughed as if for the very first time, a real laugh, that they had never recognized before

The room disappeared
The pain dissolved
The chains were broken
The people connected

And LIFE began again …

Not perfect, but honest and free with hope and wonder

Have a blessed and very truthful day.

Love and blessings, Veronica

In the end, it is the LOVE that saves us.

“I know all the metaphysical answers. I have read all of the books and even written some myself. But sometimes in spite of it all, no matter how evolved we may think we are, life throws us a curve, one that we were not expecting, and in the end, it is not the books that save us, but the love, kindness and understanding from another soul who has chosen to walk with us on this journey, for as long as it takes, so that the burden can be lighter, another being who has agreed to remind us of who we really are, when the pain and tears have blinded us from that truth.” ~Veronica Hay

Take care and have a beautiful and peaceful day.
