It was in an unexpected, playful, and mischievous kind of mood this morning and I just got the feeling to write this for today’s Insights and Inspirations …
Some things you might want to do this weekend…

Be happy for no reason except that you are here and alive and you claim this moment as your own. It’s yours. Its got your name on it. And think about this. With over 7 billion people on the planet, there is not another single soul who is exactly like you. You are one in 7 billion! A magnificent, totally unique, shining star in the great galaxy of life! Wow, doesn’t that just take your breath away? Doesn’t that just make you feel oh, so warm and fuzzy inside?
So this weekend, take the child in you out to play more. Step in mud puddles, get your feet wet, eat cotton candy, build a snowman, talk to strangers. Go to the park and have someone push you on the swings or frolic in the sandbox. Be much more silly than you usually are and care much less about what people think of you. Have you forgotten just how much fun being silly can be?
This weekend, close your eyes and imagine you are visited by your fairy godmother who wants to grant you your greatest wish. Never mind that you are put out about where she has been all this time. Just think about what that wish would be? Pretend you have it now. Savour every detail. Really get into it with all the flavour and sound (whoop, moan, yelp) – you get the picture. (Nobody’s watching and I won’t tell anyone you’re actually doing this. Hey, you can trust me!)
This weekend, talk less and say more. Taste more and eat less. And begin to notice, really notice, some of the other 7 billion unique shining stars and how they add to the tapestry of your world and the immense possibilities that lay before you.
If you were King or Queen of the world just for this weekend, who would you pick to be in your empire and why? And who would you put in the slammer. (You may get some good insight here into what’s lurking inside you and maybe even heal something.) But don’t sweat it. You want to enjoy your weekend, don’t you, so lighten up!
This weekend, don’t do your laundry, unless you absolutely have to, or the world might end.
Eat something that you love, but have not allowed yourself to have for a very long time. Think of this weekend as a special occasion and indulge yourself (without the guilt), even smack your lips a little (just for effect). That’s a demand. Okay, an order. Okay, an appeal. Okay, a request. Okay, maybe just a nudge…
Make friends with those parts of your body that you just don’t like. They occupy the same space as you, so you might as well be bosom buddies. They all need to be loved as much as you do, so show them some appreciation. (PS – Its good for your health.)
This weekend, say no, to something you absolutely don’t want to do, but think or feel that you have to do it. You hate doing it, and you are not doing it, (unless it is a life or death thing) at least for this weekend. And then, say yes, to something you have always wanted to do, that thing you have always dreamed of doing, that thing that you would give your first born child for, that thing that you would walk on hot coals for, but had a thousand excuses why you could not allow yourself that much JOY. Just making this choice will make you feel a whole lot lighter, but you might want to lie down for this one.
Begin to SEE the world with new eyes this weekend, as if you have never seen it before, like an alien on an unfamiliar planet, and not take anything for granted.
Enjoy your weekend, make friends with a few of the 7 billion people who decided to join you here at this amazing time on the planet. Maybe, get to know a few of them a little more. Reach out and touch a heart or two, celebrate your differences, acknowledge how alike you are, where it really matters, and invite them into your sandbox. Play fair. Be nice. It really is a small world but there is room for all of us. Move over. I think I’ll join you.
