"inspirational words"Today, just a little something about the concept of detachment.

I think the easy parts about manifesting / creating those things that we want in our lives is the desire and the imagining. Those are the fun parts. For me the hard part is detachment.

Often we get attached to how it is going to come to us, or when, or where. And of course, this stops the flow. We get in our own way.

The secret is in the allowing and with the allowing comes the “letting go”

To give you an example from my own life, several years ago, after being very happily Read the rest of this entry »

Imagine telling God what’s on your mind and actually having him respond. That’s exactly what happened to author Neale Donald Walsch, who says he found out God has a sense of humour, thinks suffering is an unnecessary part of life, and had nothing to do with creating the concepts of right and wrong or heaven and hell.
In an interview with Neale, I asked him the following question…
What is the most important message of book 1, as you see it?
Neale: That we are all one. That there is only one being in the universe and therefore only one being on this planet. The difficulties and challenges facing the human race all revolve around our misunderstanding of this crucial point. We imagine ourselves to be separate from each other and also separate from God. We are neither. If we understood that we are neither, then we would act accordingly and our fundamental experiences on the earth would shift dramatically, maybe even incomprehensibly, to some people. We would never again do a thing which would damage another or fail to do a thing which would potentially assist or bring joy to another. We would re-contextualize the totality of our experience and create a new and far different world.

Some inspirational words today about… the joy in simple things.

"inspirational words"I am a morning person and some days I think that the light will just never come. Sometimes the darkness scares me. I think this time of year brings up a lot of feelings that we don’t really have to deal with in the Spring and Summertime. Deep seated feelings of sadness and even despair. It is not fashionable these days to talk about that. But I do think that there comes a time when we really do have to feel those things. Really feel them, not dwell on them, but feel them, share them if we need to and then let them go. There will always be more feelings that surface as long as we are in these human bodies, much like the peeling of an onion. It is part of life. Part of being human. It helps to know that we are not alone. That others are feeling the same way. Not because misery loves company, but because we are all Read the rest of this entry »

When my home is clear, my mind is clear, and so this year I took advantage of the time off during the holidays to clear the clutter out of my life.I spent several days over Christmas and New Year’s Eve going through all of my stuff. I discovered a lot about myself and my things.

I have over 700 books, and some of them I didn’t even know I had. I love books! Just being surrounded by them makes me feel great. As if all that knowledge will seep into my brain, just by being in the same room with them. I find them comforting to read and also just to look at on the shelves.

I have hundreds of cassette tapes and CD’s and DVD’s as well, and this week I found several that I thought were long gone. I discovered items in the cupboards that I had totally forgotten about. I found things I once cherished and felt so happy to see them again, the way you would a long lost friend. I felt compelled to do this de-cluttering. Read the rest of this entry »

I have really enjoyed using Twitter for the past year. For those of you reading this article who may not be familiar with Twitter, it is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its subscribers to send and read messages. These messages are known as tweets. These tweets are text-based posts of up to only 140 characters delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. I have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with over 12,000 followers so far. Compared to Ellen DeGeneres, who has 4,014,592 followers and Oprah Winfrey who has 2,921,789 followers at the time of this writing, that may not sound like a lot, however, since the average twitter user has only 126 followers, 12,000 is a very good number indeed!

Twitter has changed a lot of lives for the better, mine included. Connecting with wonderful, like minded people has become an important part of my day and so I decided to write about my experience below. I hope this piece puts a smile on your face and that you Read the rest of this entry »

Today would be a good day to look back over 2009 and find some things to feel good about. What did you accomplish last year, and where in your life, were you more conscious and present? What wonderful things happened in the last twelve months? Forget about where you may have fallen off track. Give that no attention. Focus on what went right!

You might want to ask yourself the following questions:

  • Did I take even one step forward towards my dream or goal and if so, what was that step or steps?
  • Who (what person) or what experience made me feel generous, magnanimous, expansive, last year?
  • Did I experience any “ah-ha” moments, insights, breakthroughs in the last 365 days?
  • Where did I find the joy in my life in this past year? Who or what made me laugh out loud?
  • What happened that gave me a sense of relief and peace?
  • Who helped me along my way and have I said thank you?
  • Who or what caused me to feel a sense of accomplishment?
  • Did I take some time to celebrate my victories along the way? Remember it is not the size of the victory that matters, but the fact that you took the time to acknowledge it. It helps to build your “success muscle” so to speak.
  • If I could do it over, these past 52 weeks, what one thing would I have done differently perhaps? Guess what? You do get to do it over, in the next twelve months!

So in this past year, what was the most “delicious” moment of your life? The one that made your heart sing, smile that secret smile, and really feel that life was truly worth living!

You are now heading into a brand new year, 2010. You can take these joyful, positive and productive experiences and use them to catapult you into the rest of this year, where you can build upon them. This means that you are already much further ahead towards your dreams and goals than you were just a year ago. You are moving forward, you have established momentum, whether it feels like it or not yet.

Get ready to make 2010 the very best year of your life so far!

I woke up this morning feeling sad and thinking of all the things I had to do today and how I needed about 10 more hours in the day in order to get it all done.

With this kind of thinking, to tell you the truth, I did not even want to get out of bed. Overwhelm does that to you. It is paralyzing.

So, I decided to have a small chat with myself. What if, I just made the decision to take it easy today?  As usual, I have been working long hours and trying to do too much. It just wears me down after a while.  But, what if today, I made the choice of ease. Read the rest of this entry »
