These last few days have been for me, a dark night of the soul. Every belief I held, every truth I thought I knew and every answer I had, have all been shattered.

And even though I was surrounded by people, I felt alone, abandoned and afraid.

And yet, through all of it, I also felt higher, as though someone or something were carrying me, lifting me, loving me. And so this time instead of running from the pain, despair and confusion, I embraced it and what happened surprised me. The pain, despair and confusion became my doorway to freedom. All sorts of insights and inspirations flooded into my consciousness. It was as though I had access to a different time and place and was able to see with new eyes.

I have been searching for the truth all of my life in so many places. I thought there was only one truth and that I came here to find that truth and that if I went to enough seminars and took enough courses and read enough books and did enough affirmations that somehow I would find it. Enough, enough, enough already! It was never enough. I was never enough. And now I have found myself in this place and I realized that …

No one can tell you what your truth is or how to get there.

They can only soften the path a little.

But if you are awake and alive, there will come a time when

you will have to examine your own heart.

During this time, I thought often of Mother Teresa and what a powerful woman she was, yet without the arrogance that one often finds in powerful people. She was able to command large amounts of money from everywhere and yet she was so humble. She didn’t need to be the best at anything, she just needed to BE. Simple and profound. She touched countless lives and changed the world one person at a time.

I have an act of kindness section on my website and for the last 7 years have been putting acts of kindness suggestions on one of my daily pages. This morning as I was thinking of Mother Teresa again, I sat down to my computer and these words flowed from my fingertips and onto the screen.

Whatever you do today, remember ONE thing.

That in the end, all that really matters is the LOVE!

Did you seek it? Did you find it?

But most importantly – DID YOU GIVE IT?

Remember the LOVE!

And then I knew that was the truth I was looking for. Remember the LOVE. Often in our quest for bigger and better things, we forget why we came here in the first place. When my father died and I was sitting on his doorstep outside waiting for the limo to arrive to take me to his funeral, this was never more apparent. There stood his beautiful house and car in silence. He would never walk up those stairs and open that door again or sit behind that wheel. But I could feel his presence. He was much bigger than all of those things. His love was there forever. It didn’t die with him. The only thing we take with us when we leave this place is the love and it doesn’t matter if we die with a slim body and a fat bank account. All that matters is the love.

In remembering this, I came to know my truth. Perhaps we don’t come here to learn, perhaps we come here to teach. And the secret to success is in the love. Then I recalled a story I heard about a woman who hated her job and was living a joyless life of struggle. Her heart was closed in pain, anger and resentment. She was working as a cleaning lady. One day the old woman she worked for put on some music on the stereo. It was music that she and her late husband used to dance to. She was missing her mate terribly and longing for the gentle touch of another soul. The old woman asked the cleaning lady if she would dance with her. The cleaning lady was a bit taken aback at first but agreed to do so. And then something miraculous happened. In opening her arms to the old woman, she also opened her heart and the tears and the love began to flow. She let the love in and in that precious moment that love lifted her spirit and transformed her life. Right after this incident the cleaning lady’s business started to take off, she got so many calls she had to hire a huge staff to accommodate everyone and her company grew by leaps and bounds. The struggle disappeared and everything that she had been trying to make happen came to her effortlessly, once her heart had been opened.

In remembering this story, I knew that I had found my truth. The secret to success and the secret to life is in the love. Once I knew that, I knew everything.

How do you see the world? Do you see the glass as half full or half empty?

Do you complain and focus on what you don’t have instead of what you do have?

Do you take secret enjoyment in someone else’s failure or embarrassment?

Do you judge others? Do you see yourself as a victim? (Don’t worry – we have all been there at one time or another.)

Do you use the words SHOULD and CAN’T a lot, as in “I should do this” and “I can’t afford it.”

Are you resentful of another’s success or do you celebrate it?

Do you look for the worst or the best in people?

Do you see the world as a safe place full of people who are happy to support you? Or do you see the world as fearful, a place where you always have to be on guard, in case someone might steal from you, lie to you or hurt you in some way?

In other words, what do you believe about the world and focus on for the majority of your day?

Remember that what you focus on expands. You are much more powerful than your realize. Your thoughts are light energy beams and given enough charge they can create just about anything, good or bad. If you are thinking and speaking the same things over and over again, then very little can improve in your life.

For example, this morning I ran out of kleenex in the bathroom. I looked everywhere for a new box but couldn’t see any. I thought to myself, NO KLEENEX. I made a mental note to go to the store in the afternoon and pick some up. Later, as I was sitting at my desk writing this article and feeling happy and relaxed, I looked up and there was a fresh new box of kleenex. I remember looking on my desk earlier when I ran out, but I did not SEE the kleenex. Why? Because I was focusing on – NO KLEENEX, so that is what I got – NO KLEENEX.

This is exactly how the Universe works with everything. If you are thinking and believing – No Money, it will give you No Money because that is what you are a match to. And even if the money were right in front of your face you would not be able to SEE it. But when you relax and get into a good feeling place and allow the Universe to do its job, then all of a sudden whatever it is you are wanting shows up, be it money, better health or a good relationship.

This incident with the kleenex was a very significant message for me because I have had a feeling for a very long time now, that what I need to make all of my dreams come true is right under my nose, but I haven’t been able to SEE it yet. How about you? Is there something in your own life that you are not SEEING yet?

I was quite frankly very surprised to learn that we do not actually see with our eyes but with our brain. Two people can be looking at the exact same thing and see something completely different. So even if nothing changes but how you SEE the world, then how you SEE the world changes everything.

It has always amazed me that the evening news is almost always about something extremely negative such as murder, violence, fraud, weather catastrophes, corruption and what surprises me even more is that people actually watch it. Yes, these things do happen, but they are in the minority, the very small minority. The world is filled with people doing all kinds of wonderful things. Silent angels abound on the planet. Unsung heroes count in the thousands, perhaps even millions. Acts of kindness and miracles are everywhere. There is so much good going on in the world that we never hear about and so we begin to live our lives from this very small place and we think that is all there is. And our path in life becomes like walking through a graveyard on a summer’s day. It feels warm and cosy, but it’s dead there.

We are continuously being given messages from our environment all day long and either these messages are empowering us or they are bringing us down.

And commercials are the same way. We are bombarded in this culture with negative messages and conditioning. We are told what we should look like, how we constantly need to be fixed and then given a product and/or service that will do just that. It is any wonder that we have become the walking wounded. Even the songs we hear on the radio are for the most part sending us negative messages of life being hard and things never going our way. There is some great music out there but we need to search it out. Many of us walk around oblivious to all of this and don’t even realize how much we are affected by it at a deep subconscious level.

And it is not just in the media. For example, what do you have hanging on your walls at home or in your office. Pictures and photographs that make you feel good every time you look at them or paintings that may unconsciously be giving you a very clear message. One that you don’t want.

Here is an interesting story. Mary had a beautiful painting hanging on her wall of a lady sitting in a lovely French outdoor cafe. The woman in the painting was alone and looked very sad but Mary loved the painting because it was from Paris and she longed to go there one day when she met the person she was to spend the rest of her life with. But this never seemed to happen. Mary seemed destined to always be sad and alone or so she thought. Until the day Mary took down that painting and replaced it with a picture of a very happy couple lovingly sitting together in a french cafe, enjoying each other and life. Every time Mary looked at this new painting her heart soared, and guess what? Within a couple of months she met and married the man of her dreams and they spent their honeymoon in Paris.

Now lets focus on what you are NOT SEEING!

In order to allow more prosperity and abundance into your life, you need to have a consciousness of abundance and prosperity. In other words, you need to SEE abundance and prosperity everywhere. Scarcity is an illusion. It is not the truth of who you really are and what you are capable of. It is simply a misdirected thought, a perception, a habit of seeing the world in a certain way, a habit you have probably been practicing for a very long time. So in order to change your life, you need only to shift your perception. Sounds great, you’re thinking, but HOW do I do that? The answer… PRACTICE!

It is all about PRACTICE. How do you learn how to play the piano? One note at a time, one day at a time and PRACTICE! It is the very same with Wealth, Abundance and Prosperity. Practice! You need to start noticing how abundant the Universe already is. When you are out walking, begin to notice how lavish everything is, the hundreds of trees, the thousands of leaves, the profusion of wildlife and flowers, the vastness of the sky, the opulence of nature all around you. When you go to the grocery store, wander around the produce section and notice how plentiful it is. The thousands of colourful and flavorful fruits and vegetables at your disposal.

Notice… Notice… Notice…

Practice…Practice… Practice….

Sounds silly? Perhaps, but you can be serious and poor or silly and rich. It is always your choice!

Action Plan: This is your wake up call. Become conscious of what you are surrounding yourself with in your own private world. Walk around your home and look at your walls and if there is anything there that doesn’t completely uplift you, then you might want to remove or replace it with something that does. You might want to put a picture on your wall of something that you are wanting to create in your life so that you can see it every day and it becomes a part of who you are. Turn off the news and radio and instead listen to some positive motivational tapes or cd’s as you are driving or read some inspirational literature. Don’t worry – if anything happens that you really need to hear about, you will. Stay away from gossip and don’t complain about anything, just for the during of this program. If you want to resume complaining after the program, that is fine with me, but somehow I don’t think you will. And start NOTICING and PRACTICING!!!

Begin to see abundance everywhere you go and in everything you do. Notice it! Comment on it! Give thanks for it! Exaggerate it in the beginning if you have to. This is all a game anyway and we are playing to win this time. Have fun with all of it. Do this and just see if your life begins to move in a new direction.

My name is Veronica Hay and I am an inspirational author. I have been producing a daily inspirational post for the past 14 years and have received hundreds of requests from my subscribers. Over the years, I have noticed that each person is really asking for the same thing, just in various forms and through different means.

This prompted me to take some time to really think about what it was that I wanted to give these amazing people. If I could offer them a perfect day, what would that look like?

And so, I came up with the following inspirational words… Enjoy!

My Wish For You Today

That you take some time to close your eyes and IMAGINE and DREAM, so big and so deep, that you become like the caterpillar, who emerges as the butterfly.

That you LAUGH today, harder than you have ever laughed before, so hard, that your sides ache, and tears stream down your beautiful, glistening face.

That you LEARN something new today, something so utterly amazing, that it shakes you up, and rocks your world.

That you SAVOR the little things in your day today, your first cup of coffee, snuggling with your puppy, your baby’s sighs, your loved ones embrace.

That you SMELL one magnificent flower, so close and so intensely, that your nose rejoices to be a part of such an extraordinary face.

That you SEE, really see, your own soul reflected in someone else’s eyes, and you don’t run away, even though you’d like to.

That you WALK today, with a firm step, and a confident stride, as if you are really going somewhere, because you are.

That you PRETEND you are rich and witty and wise, whatever it is you are wanting to be, act as if, pretend it now.

That you FORGIVE everyone who has ever hurt you, and you understand the deeper purpose of all your pain.

That you really SMILE at someone today, as though they were your long lost lover come home again to steal your heart.

That you TASTE everything in your life today, the food, the wine, the rain drops, the snow flakes, each other, with your eyes closed, and your senses fully open.

That you PLAY today, with all the innocence and abandon of a sweet child, unaware of anything else, but this precious moment.

That you ALLOW yourself to just BE today, whatever your heart calls you to be, and DO only those things that inspire your soul.

That you tell the truth, and keep your word, and judge no man. That you FORGET today, forget your age, forget your past, forget your aches and pains.

And begin to REMEMBER, who you really are, and why you came here, and how very much you are loved.

Have the most wonderful day.

Love and blessings, Veronica

Courses, workshops, books, e-books, classes, teleclasses, videos, audio tapes, CD’s, DVD’s etc. And there appears to be more coming all of the time.

Some people go from one book to another, one workshop to another, one guru to another, in an never ending attempt to be fixed, hoping to some day get it right, to ultimately uncover the secret to all things from happiness, enlightenment, success and everything in between.

So many of us are left disillusioned, discouraged and defeated, feeling worse than when we started, frustrated and even saddened that none of this stuff seems to really work for us in a big enough way that makes us feel victorious or even good about ourselves.

But what if we never needed to be fixed in the first place. What if we are simply perfect just the way we are and we need only to recognize that truth and allow that perfection room to shine its own light. After all, how can one ever improve upon perfection? It simply cannot be done and it is senseless to even try.

Reminds me of digging for diamonds. When they are first uncovered they probably don’t look much like the beautiful treasures that they are. But once cleaned and polished, there is no doubting their intrinsic value and immense worth.

We see the same thing in nature, the absolute perfection and connection of it all. Trees don’t strive to be better, they stand tall and free, feeling deeply grounded to the earth, knowing that they will always be taken care of and offering their gifts to a myriad of delightful little creatures that they encounter every day. Flowers don’t struggle to be beautiful, they just are. They don’t agonize over their tiny imperfections, they celebrate them. Plants don’t have self esteem issues, they are too busy living and growing and moving forward to have any time to do that. Birds don’t worry about self improvement and bees don’t let what other people think about them or what is possible get in their own way. If they did, they would never be able to fly.

Perhaps it is time to just let go of all this self improvement, all this fixing, and just BE, the beautiful, wonderful, amazingly delicious creatures that we already are. Perhaps in the letting go, the knowing comes, and in the knowing, the miracles spring forth. Perhaps?

Some inspirational words today… about how what you are wanting is wanting you.

After studying the Law of Attraction for quite some time, I really began to notice those times in my life when I wanted something, (consciously just thought about it in my mind) and how quickly it appeared, in the most amazing ways, at just the right time, for just the right price. Often it was something I had completely forgetten about, but the Universe had not. Every desire is a request, whether we are aware of it or not and will be answered as long as we don’t have any resistance to it.

The following story is a perfect example of that. Enjoy!

What You Are Wanting Is Wanting You!

I have heard those words so many times and always find them to be so comforting. On the weekend, I went to several garden centres, to pick up lots of beautiful trees, vines, herbs and flowering plants for my balcony garden. I have been wanting to purchase a PASSION FLOWER plant for some time now. Passion flowers are exotic and mesmerizing. Small round fruits follow after the exotic flowers.

I saw one a few weeks ago, but it was $75.00, which I thought was just a little bit too expensive for one plant. But I really, really wanted a passion flower plant. I had strong emotion around it, and whenever I really, really want something, I always get it. I didn’t want to pay that much for it, however.

Last Saturday, in one of the garden centres, I found the most beautiful passion flower plant I had ever seen. It was covered from top to bottom with an abundance of beautiful buds, and many flowers, which were already in bloom. My friend held it up in the air so that I could take a closer look, and at just that moment, one of the long tendrils on the plant literally reached around and over to me, and attached itself to the button on my blouse.

I was stunned! My friend’s jaw dropped! And then, I remembered the words I had heard so often. “What you are wanting, is wanting you”. I knew this plant was for me. We belonged together. It was just waiting there for me to come and pick it up. I purchased it right on the spot, and it only cost $39.00!!!

So, YOU might want to ask yourself, what it is that YOU – REALLY, REALLY WANT? And then, be on the lookout, because you are sure to get it.

“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.” ~ John Keating (from the movie, Dead Poets Society) …

I have been writing inspirational words as far back as I can remember. I recall reading somewhere that a good way to uncover your true purpose in life is to remember the things you did as a child that you enjoyed the most, the things you seemed to do a lot of.

In thinking back to those innocent and seemingly carefree days, I remembered that every afternoon when my mother took a nap, I would lie down next to her on the bed and proceed to tell her a story. We had no inspirational books in the house in those days, actually no books whatsoever, and so I would make up my own stories. I would tell her tales of faraway places, of kings and queens and castles. I would regale her with accounts of people who possessed magical powers and worlds where everything was perfect, beautiful, steadfast and true. They would always have happy endings.

Some days, I would make up inspirational poems and inspirational sayings. I can’t remember if they rhymed or not, but they always made my mother smile. When she was ready to get up, she would hug me and kiss me and tell me what a great little storyteller I was. Of course this only served to encourage my behavior and ensure my return the next afternoon.

It was not until many years later that I came to realize how unusual this scenario was. After all, I was the child and she was the mother.

Making people feel good was always important to me. It was my purpose, my passion. I was indeed born to be an uplifter. In my early jobs, people would visit me in my office and tell me their problems, share their dreams, and trust me with their secrets. In one of the companies that I worked for, it seemed like I spent more time engaged with the people than performing my actual job. My boss said nothing about it to me, possibly because he himself had an unspoken standing appointment with me every morning before our workday actually began. He would come into my office, sit back in the big, comfy, brown chair and proceed to recount to me the details of his life. I would simply listen, offer a few words of compassion, a nod of appreciation, a sigh of understanding, whatever was needed in the moment and he would be on his way, ready to begin his day, his step a little lighter than when he had arrived.

In later years, when I started my own business, I regularly had to stay late in the evenings in order to get some “REAL WORK” done, to make up for the long trail of constant visitors to my office, during the business day.

Looking back, I suppose that was my “REAL WORK” so to speak, in the eyes of the universe. Making a difference in other people’s lives. I was just masquerading as a senior buyer, contracts administrator or magazine publisher, whatever the label called for.

I wonder how many there are of us who have been masquerading as something else while actually living our true purpose in whatever way that may be showing up for us. Today would be a good time to take a look at your own life and see where you may be doing just that without even realizing it. Take some time to really acknowledge it and feel good about what a real difference you may already be making in this world just by being you. Perhaps it is time now, for you to take that purpose to an even deeper level.

This website is filled with inspirational words that are guaranteed to uplift and inspire. Please feel free to take a look around.

Enjoy and have a wonderful day.

For for the past 10 days or so, I have been writing down any negative thoughts that I have, as soon as I become aware of them. I am surprised by how many seemingly insignificant, critical thoughts cross my mind each day. I have always considered myself to be a very positive person, and so I am amazed at how many negative little musings still sneak in.

As soon as I made a commitment to do this, I started really noticing them. LIttle things like, “what a gloomy looking day”, or “that person isn’t doing a very good job”, or “what a terrible driver” etc. I suddenly became very conscious of what was going on in my head. I am also recording the positive thoughts and experiences as well, and in time, there will be much more positive than negative.

Most of us have these kinds of thoughts running through our minds constantly, all day long, but we are so used to them, that we don’t even notice they are there. These are the things that keep our dreams and desires from manifesting.

I will give you another example of this. This morning, I suddenly started thinking of one of my relatives. I started to think of this person and of how thoughtless and inconsiderate he is and those thoughts made me feel very uncomfortable. I knew that I was having an unpleasant thought that would not serve me in any way, except to open me up to thinking even more damaging thoughts. What we focus on expands.

It does not do me any good to have those kinds of thoughts racing through my head. In fact, it actually stops my progress. I realized I was doing it right away, and this time, I stopped it right away. I even sat down and wrote some positive things that I remembered about this fellow over the years.

As for actions, what are the daily little choices we make that are really not in the direction of our goals and aspirations, eg. like not keeping our word to someone else or even ourselves, when we said that we would do something and we don’t. Just little things like that, that don’t seem so important at the time.

Well, guess what? In the big picture, all of these little things add up and keep us stuck!

It is all really about living your life in a very conscious way. This is hard to do in the beginning, but after a while, it will become much easier and you will begin to notice when you are off centre, so to speak.

The objective is to remain focused on ONLY those things that we desire by appreciating all that we already have. Staying in a really good feeling place fueled by positive thoughts and emotions. This is not to say that when we feel very sad and need to cry, that we should not. We should let that sadness move through us. Once we allow ourselves to really feel it, it will move very quickly and we will feel so much better for having experienced it.

That is why Eckhart Tolle, the author of the Power of Now, recommends that we try to BE in the moment. Because when we are fully present in the now, we are not having these kinds of thoughts. When you are totally absorbed in the beauty of a flower, noticing every detail of the stem and leaves, captivated by the exquisite colors and textures, intoxicated by the sweet fragrance and aroma, your mind is only there. You and the flower are one, in a kind of bliss state. I have done this with many flowers and they have spoken to me.

It can be the same for anything that we are doing, even folding the laundry. When we are so enthralled with that one experience, those negative thoughts really can’t get in. The illusion of time no longer exists, it appears to stand still, and we seem to have forever.

I am a morning person and some days I think that the light will just never come. Sometimes the darkness scares me. I think this time of year brings up a lot of feelings that we don’t really have to deal with in the Spring and Summertime. Deep seated feelings of sadness and even despair. It is not fashionable these days to talk about that. But I do think that there comes a time when we really do have to feel those things. Really feel them, not dwell on them, but feel them, share them if we need to and then let them go. There will always be more feelings that surface as long as we are in these human bodies, much like the peeling of an onion. It is part of life. Part of being human. It helps to know that we are not alone. That others are feeling the same way. Not because misery loves company, but because we are all connected at a very deep level and as we have the courage to heal ourselves, we heal each other.

Several years ago I spent two weeks in the Arctic, ninety miles from the North Pole at Christmas time. The Arctic is a very desolate place. There are NO trees. Only ocean and flat land. There was no light at all except for about 1/2 hour a day. I don’t know how I survived it. I felt as though I was dying inside. Not to see the light or even one tree for two long weeks. There were some wonderful experiences during the two weeks like being 3 feet away from the most beautiful polar bear I had ever seen and watching the playful Arctic fox from my window. But when it was over and I arrived home, I literally ran to the first tree I could find, fell to my knees and cried.

There are many sad things going on right now in the world and you would have to be ice cold not to be affected by them in some way. This morning I sat for awhile on my balcony and watched the sun rise with a cup of tea and a warm blanket. It was a simple thing but I felt profound joy in doing it. I think that is what keeps me going. Somehow I am able through all the difficult times along this journey to find the joy in simple things.

I wish the same for you, that today you are able to find JOY in simple things and please remember to give yourself permission to feel whatever you need to feel. Do it with loving kindness. I wish you Godspeed on your journey, my dear and precious friends.

From my heart to yours, Love and blessings, Veronica
